This research focuses on the development of usable instrumentation at the laboratory scale as well as pilot production scale for continuous biomolecules crystallisation. Specific objectives:
1-Training in mAbs and protein (globular proteins) crystallisation: understanding of the process conditions in MOFPRs and investigation in the translation of these data into the present project research.
2-Design and development of tubular-flow based reactors for the continuous crystallisation of biomolecules. This will require proper knowledge of the physical aspects of fluidics and hydrodynamics inside flow reactors.
3-Implementation of PAT tools, namely Raman, microscopy, light scattering techniques. 4-Test the robustness of continuous biomolecules crystallisation in the developed device(s) coupled to PAT tools for various biomolecules (i.e., globular proteins and mAbs). Sufficient data on crystallisation kinetics and crystals’ properties shall be obtained to build a PB model thus enabling process automation and control.
