This project aims at studying the effect of an external field on biomolecules nucleation by applying an electric field or a laser pulse (NPLIN) into a microfluidic set-up. Globular proteins will be studied. Specific objectives:
1-Develop a microfluidic platform for triggering biomolecule crystallisation using an external field: electric field and/or laser pulse.
2-Measure statistical data on biomolecule nucleation and provide statistical data to the community.
3-Comparison of results obtained with electric field and/or a laser pulse with those obtained with ultrasounds or magnetic fields.
4-Modelling the effect of an external field on nucleation of biomolecule.
